If I were to play a game of make-believe, I would like to imagine myself to be a social worker, who works for the rights and responsibilities of villagers. After doing a thorough study of a villager's life and the general state of his village, I would take up the matter with the local, district or state authorities. In effect, I would lend a voice to the downtrodden, neglected and impoverished.
Once I'm able to improve the life of a villager and his village, I would go to another village and this would go on. Anna Hazare would be my idol. I have also been impressed after reading about the ex-IIT Professor, Alok Rajan, who has been living in the remote villages of M.P. for the past 32 years, serving the tribals.
Besides food and nutrition, economic welfare, sanitation, education and healthcare, I would also focus on abstinence from the consumption of alcohol, gender inequality, scientific crop rotation and improvement of roads and transportation. My role would be to stay in the villages and ensure that all these changes are brought about in a clean, efficient and honest manner.
