If I were the narrator I would have helped Nicola and Jacopo by depositing the money for their sister's treatment in the hospital in advance. I would have given strict instructions to the hospital not to disclose my identity to them under any circumstances.

Also, I would have gotten them admitted to a school and looked for well-paying part time jobs for them. This would have helped them in meeting with their daily expenses while preparing for a bright future.
