First of all the vertebral column is made of bone as well as cartilages. So, if it was made of only bone or you can say only a single bone, we would not have been able to bend, which is not at all possible.

The vertebral column is made of og 33 bones known as the vertebrae, which are separated by intervertebral discs.

The column can be divided in five different regions which have different structure, namely cervical, thoracic, lumbar,sacrum and coccyx.

The column is covered in spinal fluid.

These all together form the central axis to our body and is responsible for postures and movements.

Now, if the vertebral column was a single bone, then postures and movements wouldn't have been possible.
