Given :   z=4-7i

To find :  additive inverse of z lies in  which quadrant

Solution:

Additive inverse of a number X is the number that, when added to X , yields

zero

-X  is additive inverse of X

& X is additive inverse of - X

as X + (-X)   = -X + X  = 0

z=4-7i

let say  M + iN   is additive inverse

=>     4 - 7i  + M + iN = 0

=> (4 + M )  + i(N - 7)  = 0

=> 4 + M = 0

=> M = - 4

N - 7 = 0

=>  N = 7

-4 + 7i  is additive inverse of  4 - 7 i

-4  ( x axis)   ( 2nd or 3d Quadrant )

7i ( y axis)    ( 1st or 2nd  Quadrant )

Common in Both

2nd Quadrant

Hence additive inverse of z lies in  Second quadrant
