if the atomic number ,z is equal to 5 then its electronic configuration will be 2,3 so to achive inert gas configuration it will give its 3 electrons to other element.so,its valency is 3

kvnmurty: can it be also 5 minus ? it can gain 5 electrons to attain a config: 2, 8..
Amiyah: no, sir it cannot because it would be more difficult for boron to gain 5 electrons but it would be easier for boron to achieve the nearest inert gas config. that is it can give 3 electrons .
Amiyah: hope it was correct!!!!

We  know that,
The atomic no. = z = 5
Therefore, the electronic configuration of the element = 2,3
So, the will loose 3 electrons
Therefore, the valency is 3⁺
And the name of the element is Boron

kvnmurty: can it be also 5 minus ? it can gain 5 electrons to attain a config: 2, 8..
Anurag19: no it can not be 5-, because it is a metal and no element can gain 5 electrons
Anurag19: i hope it is correct sir
Amiyah: anurag bro, boron is a metalloid
