a - b - c = 17 if Zeroes of  polynomial x² - 2x - 3   are half f of the zeros of polynomial ax² + bx + c

Step-by-step explanation:

x² - 2x - 3  = 0

=> x² - 3x + x - 3 = 0

=> x(x - 3) + 1(x - 3) = 0

=> (x + 1)(x - 3) = 0

=> x = - 1 or 3

Zeroes of  polynomial x² - 2x - 3   are half f of the zeros of polynomial ax² + bx + c

Zeroes of  ax² + bx + c  are  -2  & 6

hence polynomial would be

(x -(-2))(x - 6)

= (x + 2)(x - 6)

= x² - 4x - 12

comparing with

ax² + bx + c

a = 1

b = -4

c = -12

a - b - c

= 1 -(-4) -(-12)

= 1 + 4 + 12

= 17
