2x-3y=7 Squaring both sides (2x-3y)^2 = (7)^2 (2x)^2 + (3y)^2 - 2 (2x) (3y) = 49 4x + 9y - 12xy = 49  4x + 9y - 12(10) = 49 4x + 9y = 49+120 4x + 9y = 169  (2x + 3y)^2 = ?  (2x)^2 + (3y)^2 + 2(2x)(3y) 4x + 9y + 12xy 169 + 12(10) 160+ 120 = 289   Therefore,  (2x+3y)^2 = 289
