Answer: x=2 and y =1

Step-by-step explanation:

2x + y =5.....(I)

3x + 2y =8......(II)

multiply equation (I) by 2,

4x + 2y = 10......(III)

subtract equation (II) from equation (III),

4x + 2y =10

-3x - 2y = -8

------------------

x = 2

substitute X =2 in equation (I),

2x +y =5

2(2) + y =5

4+y =5

y=5-4

y =1

hope it helped
