Pitcher plant has partial heterotrophic mode of nutrition. It performs photosynthesis. To meet its nitrogenous requirement it feeds on insects since pitcher plant grows in nitrogen deficient soil. In a pitcher plant, the leaf is modified to form a pitcher like structure.
