4. Why is the north-south extent of India larger than its east-west extent even though the countries latitudinal and longitudinal extent is of the same value?

Explanation:

1)

The longitudinal extent of India is between 68°7'E (Gujarat) and 97°25'E (Arunachal Pradesh) longitudes.

2) Since Arunachal is an eastern most state of India therefore sun rises earliest there than the other part of country. Therefore we can say that Arunachal Pradesh is a befitting name for our eastern most state

3) Countries that make up the Indian subcontinent are— Pakistan , Nepal and China , Bhutan and Bangladesh .

India is different because

a. There are many basis on which we can identify that India is different from other countries in Asia.

b. Being the largest democracy in the World, India can claim to have one of the successful democratic structures.

c. The country in comparison to other countries is indeed one of the most diverse countries in the World.

d. India is surely one of the largest countries in the world , in terms of its size. It has an an area of 3.28 million square km and occupies 2.4% of the geographical araes.

e. The area that India occupies is equal to that of Europe.

f. India is indeed 7th largest country in the World.

g. It is also centrally located, The central location of India is considered of great significance as it helps India to keep a close contact with West Asia, Africa and Europe from western coast, and Southeast and East Asia from the eastern coaast. h.It is also an important transit point for sea routes connecting the two regions that is countries of Europe with countries of East Asia.

i.India's central location at the head of Indian Ocean gives it a great strategic importance and helps in maintaining contact with the rest of the World

j.India has the longest coastline in the region adding to its clout.

k.India as compared with other countries has a strategic location which has allowed it o maintain close cultural, economic relations with other countries.

l.The country also has porous border, bordering countries like Pakistan, Nepal, China, Bangladesh etc

4)The latitudinal and longitudinal extent of India is almost the same degrees. i.e 30 degrees. But the north south distance in Kilometers is 3214 and the east west distance is 2933 km. This is because of the nature of the latitudes and the longitudes.

India share 2.4 percent of land area with the world.
