Direction of electric field- radially inwards

Explanation:

We know that V= (-)Edr

As the potential is increasing, V='+ve', therefore, the electric field should be "-ve" and that due to a negative charge.

Furthermore, V=(-)(-E)dr=Edr, V comes out to be positive and increasing
