euler's  formula = F+V=E+2

here,  

        faces (F) = 4,

        vertices(v) = q,

         edges (E)= 6.

  therefore,    4+q = 6+2

                         q  = 8 -4

                          q= 4.

∴  no of vertices = 4.

From the available data, we can conclude that the solid shape is a triangular pyramid.
