Shakspeare was a great dramatist and wanted to make it realistic in his portrayal of life aboard a ship in the midst of a storm. If he had a considerable idea about ships was still questionable.
- However he came from the experience, Shakespeare obviously understood that in the case of a deadly storm at sea.
- He knew that it will be a common practice for the passengers to remain below deck while the crew attempted to maneuver the ship under the dangerous conditions.
