Brain is protected by :

  • Skull bones (also called cranium or brain box)

  • Meninges and CSF (Cerebro-Spinal Fluid)

Detailed Discussion:

The cranium contains the following bones namely:

  • Frontal bone
  • Parietal bone
  • Temporal bone
  • Occipital bone

They are attached at the suture lines and protect the brain from any trauma.

The brain is also covered with meninges (namely dura mater, arachnoid mater and pia mater).

  • Now, CSF is present in the subarachnoid space (inbetween arachnoid and pia mater) and acts as cushion and shock absorber for brain.

  • Hence, prevents any trauma to brain.

Explanation:

Human brain is indeed one of the most complex body parts yet too delicate also. That is why, brain has some natural protections around. Most solid protected layer is provided by the bones of the skull. Then comes a covering of three thin membranes. The brain is covered along a cerebrospinal fluid which is a kind of dilute fluid in which the brain is immersed.
