GIVEN:

Four consecutive natural numbers,

Product = 5040

ANSWER:

7, 8, 9 and 10 are the numbers

SOLUTION:

Let the first number be 'x'

So, the 4 consecutive numbers will be:-x, (x + 1), (x + 2), and (x + 3)

Product = 5040

==> x(x + 1)(x + 2)(x + 3) = 5040

Take the prime factors of 5040, using factorisaton method...

==> x(x + 1)(x + 2)(x + 3) = (2×2×2)×7×(3×3)×(5×2)

Now, group them like wise...

==> x(x + 1)(x + 2)(x + 3) = 7 × 8 × 9 × 10

7,8,9 & 10 are consecutive numbers. So, make them as products like the LHS

==> x(x + 1)(x + 2)(x + 3) = 7(7 + 1)(7 + 2)(7 + 3)

RHS looks just like the products in LHS

The required numbers are 7, 8, 9 & 10
