Answer:

The main theme of the Mahabharata is the idea of sacred duty. Every character in the epic is born into a particular social group, or caste, that must follow the duty prescribed to it by sacred law. The characters who perform their sacred duty are rewarded, while those who do not are punished.

Answer:

(ii) What is the theme of mahabharat

Explanation:

You will get a lot of answers saying Dharma and other things and those answers might be true. For me however, the theme of Mahabharata is one word: Life. As simple as it sounds, it's theme that makes the most sense.

Mahabharata shows every aspect of life there is. It shows the best humans can be and the worst we can be. It shows what can be achieved through sheer hardwork and what can be achieved through talent but not Hardwork. It shows the perils of Materialism and the results of an ascetic life. It shows politics at its worst and governance at its best. It shows how torture is done and how the greatest acts of charity and sympathy are committed. It shows ever lasting glory and eternal condemnation. It can lead to enlightenment or doom based on how you interpret it.
