maximum range of the ball if projected with the same velocity?

maximum horizontal distance achieved if the angle of projection is 45 degrees

corresponding range u^2 / g = 200 metres

max energy with which the boy can throw is 1/2 m u^2 = 1/2 m 200 g

ball will reach max height when thrown vertically

mg h = 1/2 m 200 g

==> h = 100 metres ; this is max height
