(iii) A room 12.5m long and 10.5 m wide is surrounded by a varendah 2m wide all around it. Find the area occupied by varendah. show it with diagram​

Given :-

  • Length of the room = 12.5 m
  • Width of the room = 10.5 m

To Find :-

  • Area occupied by the verandah.

Solution :-

Area of the room = l × b

→ 12.5 × 10.5

→ 131.25 m²

Length of the verandah,

→ 12.5 + 2 + 2

→ 12.5 + 4

→ 16.5 m

Breadth of the verandah,

→ 10.5 + 2 + 2

→ 10.5 + 4

→ 14.5 m

Total Area of the room,

→ l × b

→ 16.5 × 14.5

→ 239.25 m²

Area of verandah,

→ Area - Total Area

→ 239.25 - 131.25

→ 108 m²
