Many rivers are flowing through the northern plains and these rivers carry water throughout the year. They carry fine slit and deposited along the river bank. This is called alluvium soil. This alluvium soil are fertile and good for crop. In this area heighest producer of wheat, rice, and many crops.
The Northern Plains is called the Food Bowl of India because plenty of food crops are grown here due to the presence of alluvial soil and availability of water. For eg. rice, wheat, oilseeds etc.
