Tropical Rainforest

  • Description: Tropical Forest are home to gigantic trees, colourful birds and a range of interesting animals. The Amazon Basin Forest is the largest Tropical Forest in the world, covering 6 million square km.
  • Climate: Tropical Forest are wet places that receiving heavy rainfall either seasonally or throughout the year.
  • Plants: Tropical Forest are home to half the plants on earth. Trees grow to gigantic sizes in the Tropical Forest’s. Tropical rainforests have a big variety of trees.
  • Animals: Tropical Forest are home to half the animal species on earth. Scientists believe that there are many animals that live in Tropical Forest because they are one of the oldest eco-systems.
  • Where in the world they exist: There are 3 main regions of Tropical Forest; Central and South America, West and Central Africa and in South-east Asia, but they can also be found in Eastern Madagascar etc.

Boreal Forest:

  • Description: Boreal Forest, also known as Taiga, are the largest terrestrial biome on earth. The Boreal Forest are filled with trees and lots of animals.
  • Climate: Cold winters and wet summers are natural for Boreal forest. Winter days are short and summer days are long.
  • Plants: Trees are the most common plant found in Boreal Forest. The most common type of tree found in Boreal Forests is the Conifer and is also known as Evergreen.
  • Animals: Animals that can be found in Boreal Forest include Squirrels, Ermine, Moles, Deer, Moose, Elk, Snowshoe Hare, Insects, Birds, Grizzly Bears, Wolves, Lynxes and Wolverines.
  • Where in the world they exist: Boreal Forest can be found in North America, Europe, Asia and North America.
