The best way to realise the answer is by looking at the change in units. For A saving is 2 units and for B it’s 1 unit. But they have to be equal. So just the changing the ratio would do the job for me.

Income ratio is 36:16 and expenditure ratio is 35:15. Now in both the cases saving is 1 unit . So 1 unit is Rs. 2000.

Income of A is 36 units or Rs 72,000.

and for B it’s 16 units or Rs.32,000.

P.S: Avoid the use of variables when it comes to quantitative aptitude.
