Linear Momentum will always be conserved in case of two balls lying on the same plane colliding.

  • Due to the impact or the impulsive force, the velocities of the two balls change and therefore the total Kinetic Energy K.E. , being a scalar quantity,(i.e. a quantity which contains only magnitude no direction) also changes.
  • While momentum being vector (quantity having both magnitude and direction) is conserved in collision.

Though energy is always conserved,it is never lost,it always tranforms from one form to the other according to the law of conservation of energy, there's a loss of energy whose impact is responsible for change in temperature.
