1.He is Antonio's dear friend.
Bassanio's love for Antonio is profound. He genuinely cares for him. When he heard that Antonio has fallen into the clutches of Shylock, he responds to his letter and immediately leaves for Venice and even offers money which he inherited from Portia. He was even ready to give his own flesh, blood ,bones and all.
2. Bassanio leads an extravagant life. He is frequently in debts and his friend Antonio is the one who lent him a second loan to go to Belmont.
