In the poem, "The Bridge Builder," by Will Allen Dromgoole, an old man crosses a swift moving river, which at that time, was at high tide. When he succeeded, he decided to build a bridge. While he was building it, a fellow traveler came along and asked why he was building a bridge if he had already crossed. The old man told him that it would be kind and unselfish to build a safer way for others to get across the water. We could learn a lesson from this man. In the following lines that are provided, they will show how Mr. Dromgoole wants everyone not to be selfish and that you should think about others- not just about yourself.

Summary of bridge builder
The bridge builder, written by Win Allen, explores the psychology of an Old man trying to build a bridge for the future generation. The bridge which is being built by the old man personifies the connection between the young generation and the Old generation.
The lines “Old man,” said a fellow pilgrim near, “You are wasting your strength with building here", written by the poet explains how the old man is toiling to build a bridge in-spite of his very old age. This explains how the main character of the poem, the old man is relentlessly working hard for the betterment of the next generation.
The poem revolves around the themes like unselfishness, care, love, Philanthropy and hard work, thereby invoking a sense of alertness to the reader to imbibe the goodness established by the old man's genuine character.
