The cells of the onion specimen appear to have a compacted rectangular-like shape with clear and visible cell walls in between cells. It also has a visible nucleus, vacuoles and some small granules.

Onion cells are easily visible at medium magnification. Their plasma membrane and cytoplasm can be clearly distinguished, and, if a stain is used, their nuclei can be seen, as well.
