Illustrate, if possible, each one of the following with a rough diagram:
(a) A closed curve that is not a polygon.
(b) An open curve made up entirely of line segments.
(c) A polygon with two sides.
Answers
Before going into solution we will see what are these figures and explanation;
What is a polygon?
- A polygon is a closed figure made up of line segments in a two dimesional plane.
- Polygon is made up of two words poly (means many)and gon (means sides) making up Many sides.
(a) A closed curve that is not a polygon.
A closed curve is any design that has no end point and is dtawn on a flat surface i.e. 2D (2 dimensional). Example: Circle
How circle?
A circle is also a plane figure but it is not considered as polygon because it has a curved shape and does not have any sides or angles.
Therefore a circle is a closed curve that is not a polygon.

(b) An open curve made up entirely of line segments.
Here we can take any open figure, I have taken one from your ncert book only..

- Digon
What is a digon?
In geometry a digon is a type of polygon with two sides (edges) and two vertices It can be visulised in elliptic space.
ఌ︎A regular digon has both angles equal and both sides equal and is represented by Schläfli symbol {2}. It may be constructed on a sphere as a pair of 180 degree arcs connecting antipodal points, when it forms a lune.
