Palampur is a village in the western up. It is well connected to raiganj( a small town) through an all weather road which also connects it to the nearest town of shahpur. Agriculture is the main activity of these village comprising a total of 75% of people employed in it. Other non-farm activities such as manufacturing,dairy,transport, shopkeepering are carried out on a small scale. There are a total of 480 families in the village where SC( Dalits) comprise 1/3 rd of the population i.e.,150,these families are landless. The rest 240 families contain land of about 2 hectare or more. The rich 60 families contain the maximum land with one field size of about 10 hectares or more. Electricity came early to Palampur that is the reason of the fields of Palampur are well irrigated through electric tubewells. The families of Palampur mostly grow two or three crops a year. Bajra and ragi are grown in the rainy season. Potato between October to December and wheat is sown in the winter season. Sugarcane is also grown once a year. The farmers of Palampur are able to grow three crops( through multiple cropping) because of the well built system of irrigation in palampur.
