The oxide of Sulphur is sulpher dioxide SO2. Sulphur dioxide is an acidic gas and this can easily be demonstrated by adding water and a few drops of universal indicator to a container of the gas. The resulting acid is the weakly dibasic acid sulphurous acid (H2SO3).
The reaction is in the figure.

Sulphur forms Sulphur dioxide when reacted with oxygen.
It further form sulphur trioxide which is an acid on reaction with oxygen.
on further reaction with oxygen it forms sulphuric acid.
This shows the acidic nature of sulphur di-oxide.
Hope it helps.
