Children’s Panchayat was founded in October 2010 as an initiative supported by the UNICEF. The members of this panchayat are school going children between 5 and 18 years of age.

Children’s Panchayat has proved to be significant in many ways. Some of them are:

# It helps children gain an awareness of their human rights and also acquire good behavior, skills and knowledge. This is achieved through interaction with adults and creative community programs and projects, as well as consultations.

# It focuses on bringing down school dropout rate drastically and works on achieving 100 percent literacy.

# It tries to put an end to social evils like female feticide and child marriages.

# It works towards ensuring basic amenities such as sanitary facilities for children.
