Trade. - Traders exchanged food with other commodities in the ancient world and as a result they were able to incorporate other cultural exchanges like agriculture.

Intermarriage. - In the  traditional society, foods such as maize,potatoes and groundnuts are prepared during marriages for the people in attendance to celebrate.

Agriculture. - In the past hunting and gathering was common and this was the  main source of food for the people. After the agrarian revolution in Egypt and Mesopotamia, the world copied the cultural activities of domestication from Egypt and Mesopotamia.

Food offers many opportunities of long-distance Cultural Exchange and some of them are defined as below:-

1. Travelers and traders from one country introduce new crops to another country.

2. Common foods such as potato, groundnuts, soya, tomatoes, sweet potatoes, maize, chilies etc were for example introduced in America by European people.

3. New crops had made a big difference in life as well as death. The poor people in Europe, for example, stated having better food and live a longer life by consuming the potatoes.
