It is absolutely true ‘imagination is a temporary refuge from reality’. The author, Jack Finney has used this imagination in the chapter beautifully.

Charley’s wandering off to the third level at The New York Central Station was nothing but the figment of his imagination. If it existed in reality, it would be available for everyone. Why was it that only people suffering from insecurity, fear, wars, and stress found it?

Charlie, the narrator also found it once; but he could not find it later, though he tried many times. Sam, narrator’s psychiatrist friend also found it because he was also in search of a better world.
