My girlfriend and I had gone out on a fancy date at the Fogo Gaucho Restaurant in Nairobi. We sat down at our table and signalled the waiter. The waiter did not even acknowledge our presence. I was infuriated by the lack of indifference show by the waiter. I stood up and walked to the reception demanding to see the manager. Other patrons of Caucasian origin were being served and yet they had arrived later than us. The manager tried to calm me down and reassure me. I could not believe that I had been racially discrminated against.

Dear Diary:
Tonight I am going to share with you a painful experience from my past which describes how once I was prejudiced against. The incident is from the time when I was aspiring to become a successful cricketer. At that time the financial condition of my family was not so strong. So, I always had enough just to make both ends meet. I used to sweat and work very hard on the ground. The selectors were very impressed and satisfied with my practice sessions. With me practiced another boy who belonged to a very affluent family. His performance in practice sessions was below mine. Yet he was always given preference because he would gifts to coach, selectors; and also got his name recommended by men of influence in the society. Once a very important match was to be played. I was sure to play in the eleven. However, just before the match when the team was announced, my name was not in the playing eleven; but his name was there. I felt very hurt. These things were common in the past; but in the present times such incidents of discrimination have become minimum. That’s all dear diary. Good night.
