I am writing you this letter because I feel that my end is near. My eyesight is very dim and my joints do hurt a lot. It is very difficult to move about. I am not going out any more. Still I have not heard from Mirium.
As you might know, for the last five years I used to go to the post office everyday. I am sure one day Mirium's letter will come. She loves me dearly, I am sure of that. Allah knows what prevents her from writing a letter. Whatever it is, she will write soon. But alas! I don't think I'll live to read it. But even if I am dead I'll come back to read her letter.
So yesterday I went to the post office after so many days. As usual my wait was in vain and the postmaster even got angry with me for pestering him. But Aslam, what will I do? Anyway I have given five gold coins to one of the clerks there and asked him to convey the letter, when it comes, to my grave. He was shocked, of course, but I am sure he will do it as I had held Allah as my witness. I am..getting... very weak. Aslam....I think this is my last letter to you. May..Allah bless you
