There are majority of areas which would get affected and it will be a major impact to entire society. Effect of it would be so widespread that one cannot take away the probability of seeing next world war if this happens. It will be a devastating effect on all economic level including poor, middle class and wealthy.

Below are the very critical items that humans rely on crude oil for
- Energy
- Fuel
- Food (Fertilizers get some raw materials from oil)
- Insulation items
- Clothing
- Plastic

Now imagine your life without any of this product and see the end result - DEVASTATION. No locomotion. Humans will not be able to travel from point A to point B efficiently. Means of transport that are available without oil are extremely slow and we would head to a rock age again.

Man is in pursuit of developing alternative energy sources, like solar, nuclear etc as he fears the depletion of known sources of energy, like bio-fuels, i.e. coal and petroleum. In this pursuit, shale gas is being tapped in North America.

If petroleum supplies were to get exhausted life would be very difficult to live, because of our immense dependence on this energy resource. Oil, as it is commonly called, is required in various forms to run cars, diesel train engines, aeroplanes, captive electric generators, industrial machinery etc.If our mobility is restricted, manufacturing slowed down, transportation of goods affected and so on, mankind would struggle to survive. In fact, there would a significant setback to the progress of human civilisation and, without doubt, we would be hurtling backwards to the lifestyle of our ancestors. Materially, depletion of oil would affect industries like plastic, synthetic fibre, fuel and so on.
