(1) Convenience in buying :

Retail shops provide goods to the consumers according to the requirements .Normally they are  situated near the residential areas and remain open for long hours.

(2) Wide selection :  

Generally the Retail shops keep large varieties of products of different manufacturers . Hence they offer a wide selection to the consumers.  

(3) New product information :  

Retail shops provide information about arrival, special features of new product to the customers . This help the customers in deciding regarding purchase of those goods.

(4) After sales services :  

Various after sales services like free home delivery, supply of spare parts and attending to the customers etc are provided by the retail shops.  

(5) Regular availability of products :  

Retail shops ensure regular availability of product from different manufacturers. Hence, the consumers are able to select the products according to their tastes from a wide variety and buy them when required.  

(6) Provide credit facilities :  

sometimes the retail shops provide goods to the consumer credit basis.

If there is no retail shop following difficulties will be faced by a  consumer face  

• (1) No ready stock of goods for the use of the consumer.  
• (2) No information available to consumers about variety of choice.
• (3) No fresh supply of fresh goods to the consumer.
• (4) No cash discount to the customers.
• (5) No personal contracts with the consumers.
• (6) No advice to the consumer regarding the products.
• (7) No facility of take back from the customers goods sold there, if the goods are not to the satisfaction .
• (8) No credit facilities to regular customers.

Different services provided by retail shops and local markets to consumers are most important , therefore life of consumer without the local market and retail shop is very difficult.
