In context to the story 'Madam rides the bus', If Valliammai, the little girl, was stranded on her trip in the bus due to a flat tyre and didn't reach home within the planned time, her mother would get to know that her daughter is missing and would start to search here and there for the little girl. Since Valli didn't tell anyone about her bus trip, her mother won't have any clue about where she was. As soon as the bus would get its tyre fixed and reach Valli's home, her mother would be shocked to see the little girl getting out of the bus on her own. The sense of motherhood might encourage the mother to ask the conductor as of why he let the girl on the bus alone in the firsthand. She would get scolded afterwards and reminded of never doing anything like so ever again.
