Dear Diary,

Today is the saddest day of my life. Last week a few government officials visited our home in my village and offered a small job to my father. They asked us to move to the Vijayapuri, which is 20 kms from here.  When my father politely refused the offer and told them that the village was his home and that the last many generations of his ancestors had lived here and died, the officer said that from henceforth we cannot live here. He said that the land was sanctioned for the construction of a bridge and the villagers were rehabilitated to suburbs of the town.

My father is a cowherd. But he sent me to school for primary education in the village. He wants me to become a teracher. I want to study further and I love my village. I want to come back after my education one day and set up a school here. But if the village is going to be razed to the ground, how can I do that? My friends and my family are feeling very sad. We dont like cities. There is no freedom in the city. Everything is so dirty and there is no space for us to play and move around. And where are our cows going to graze? What about a cowshed? Are they going to eat from the garbage dump? I saw cows and dogs in the cities eat whatever they see on the road.

I wish a miracle would happen and we stay back in the village. I will pray to God tonight and sleep. Please diary, you also tell God about this and tell him we are unhappy. Good night

Jhareli Gaon

Near Jungle

Jharkhand

Dear Diary,

You know it's so heartbreaking to leave a place where you were born and you grewup and then shifting your base to a totally strange place and live with strangers.

My life is going through the same phase. We all Gond tribe people are the adivasis living near Jhareli Gaon. The Jungle is our home and animals are our friends. But today the government has offered us to shift to Dhruva Villege, which is a neat and clean villege and there is a lot of education and employment opportunities there.Though it's good for us and our children but we don't feel like leaving our home this jungle.

Though it's a tough decision for us but we want need to take action so that our future generations can have a good life later.

Goodnight Dear diary
