Bruno’s Diary…
Dear diary, it’s me Bruno,
I still cannot believe why Father brought us here? Why would he
take us away from our lovely home in Berlin to this? I’m not even sure where
this place is, there isn’t very much grass and the ground is dusty and dry and
it seems to be in the middle of nowhere. I can’t stand it here I want to go home
already. I have tried to tell Mother that I think that we should go home but she
just tells me that we can’t. Mother said one day we will be allowed to go back
to Berlin, I cannot wait! There is nothing to do here, there is no Karl, no
Martin and no Daniel to play with, I’m so bored. I know that Fathers job is
important, but why did he have to take us as well? He could have just left us back in Berlin.
This house is a lot smaller than my real house and there is no-where to
explore. Gretel is still always yelling and saying nasty things to me, but I
guess she is just a hopeless case who cannot be helped. It’s
really quiet around here, it’s just us living here and some people who wear
striped pyjamas and some who have fantastic uniforms like what Father has. They
live at this huge place surrounded by a wired fence I can see outside the window
at my house. Maria, Lars and Cook didn’t seem to mind about the move. Now we
also have Pavel who is our waiter and Gretel and I have a new tutor named Herr
Listz.
Tomorrow, I think I will go exploring, maybe even go and see
what all the people in the pyjamas and uniforms are doing. It looks a lot more
fun than sitting here anyway. I have tried exploring the house but there isn’t
anything to find, so I’m going to go outside to discover something new.
Hopefully soon we can go home.
