My Dear Radha Ma'am,

How are you? Hope this letter finds you in the best of health and happiness. As you know I stay with my grandparents. Like other old people of her times my grandmother is not literate. So every Wednesday I used to read out to her, writer Triveni's  "Kashi Yatre" serial in Kannada from the magazine, Karamveera.

My grandmother used to listen and memorize it. Then she would go and narrate it to others. Once I had to go to a neighboring village for a wedding and was away for a week. During that time my grandmother felt very helpless as she could not read the serial. She vowed that she would learn the Kannada alphabets by Dassera.

So when I came back she asked me to teach her Kannada. She was so determined and enthusiastic that I had to give in to her plea. Together we reached our goal. I presented her a copy of the novel and she touched my feet as I was the teacher.

I cannot express how happy I am that like you I could also become a good teacher. It is such a joy to see my grandmother smiling and reading and enjoying the serial on her own. Ma'am I wish to share the joy with you and now understand your feelings when we students learn properly.

                                                                                   With love and regards

                                                                                                 Your student

                                                                                                  Sudha
