Imagine that you are the narrator of this story. You moved to the United States with your family
but your grandparents still live in China. Write a letter to them about your trip and experiences
in the United States. Write about what has been the most interesting experience and what you
have learned about American culture.

Hi! grandma and grandpa. I hope this letter finds you in the best of health and spirits. We are also fine here by the grace of God. As you know that it's been a week we've moved to the USA and I want you to know that I am enjoying every bit of the journey. I got to experience a lot of new things. I got to know so many people. The people of America are just so nice and warm-hearted. Our neighbours are great. We've learned so much about American culture and tradition. The culture of the United States of America is primarily of Western origin but is influenced by a multicultural ethos that includes African, Native American, Asian, Pacific Island, and Latin American people and their cultures. It has its own distinct social and cultural characteristics, such as dialect, music, arts, social habits, cuisine, and folklore. American culture promotes homogeneity in its diversity. I am loving this new experience. I wish you were here to enjoy and experience the love and warmth of the Americans.
Lots of love and regard!

Dear Grandma and Grandpa
How are you? We are doing great here in America. It is a really beautiful place. How is everything back in China? There are so many things that I want to tell you both! First of all, I want you to know that we have settled down just fine. Initially, we had some teething problems but now everything is okay. The Americans have a completely different set of traditions and it was only through an embarrassing experience that we learnt about it. We were at our neighbour, Mr Gleason’s house for dinner, along with other guests. We were surprised to see that the Americans eat celery raw! We started peeling off the strings of the celery and everyone started staring at us. Furthermore, we took chairs to the dining table, for we couldn’t find any over there. Mrs Gleason then told us that it was a ‘buffet’ and nobody sits at the dining table. We were so embarrassed! But on a positive note, we learnt about American dining culture and it was a great experience! I wish you both could also join us here. It would be so amazing! I’ll write soon. Till then, please take care of yourselves and have fun!
Your granddaughter
