Imagine that you need to produce a lot of product B. Product B is produced in a 6-step reaction in the microbe. Now after being produced in an excess amount the product inhibits one of the enzymes involved in the 6-step reaction (by being attached to its allosteric site) of the production of product B which in turn stops the production of product B. What is this phenomenon called? Just name the phenomenon. (0.5) (b) Now referring to question number (a) state how you can solve this problem to produce Product B on a large scale for industrial purposes. State in no more than 3 sentences. (2) (c) Why do you think the continuous culture has more contamination risk than batch culture? (2)(d) Which culture (Batch, Fed-batch, continuous) requires an expert to be controlled?
