Dear Matthew,
Hope this letter finds you in good health. It has been a while since I last wrote to you. How are you? And how is your family? Hope all is well.
Recently I went to an orphanage. It was part of a school project so I had to go but I was glad that I did go as it was an eye opening experience for me. The name of the orphanage is ‘Hopeland’ and it is in Delhi. It is located in a beautiful landscape. The property is big and the staff is nice and friendly. The children of the orphanage are well provided for as it is a government funded organisation. But I was really sad to see the reality of those children. There are about a thousand children there of all ages, from infants to teenagers. Now, the infants are adopted easily but there are very slim chances of a child over the age of 4 to be adopted. There is a certain prejudice against them. I talked to teenagers there and was surprised to find that some were abandoned, while some of their parents died and their immediate family didn't want to claim them. I felt that they needed the love of a parent. All the children that I met had a different story and I cried hearing some of it.
Yours Truly,
rima
