Writing a diary entry based on ‘The Journey’:

  • Read the lesson.
  • Identify the emotions of the narrator
  • Identify the emotions of the father
  • Put it all together in the correct format
  • Write from the father’s point of view

Possible information (and emotions) that you could use in your diary entry:

  • My son is leaving today
  • He won’t be able to carry the luggage- disappointment
  • Long walk to the bus stop, uneven path
  • I carried the luggage, but feet hurt- pain
  • No shoes
  • Son is well-dressed, government job- pride
  • Did I make a mistake in the way I brought him up?- confusion
