When there is transfer of electrons between two atoms the there will be formation of ionic bond. On the other hand, when there is sharing of electrons between two atoms then there will be formation of ionic bond.

It is due to formation of bonds between atoms which helps in occurrence of chemical reactions.

But when electron transfer is not possible between two atoms then there will be no bond formation between atoms. As a result, no chemical reaction will take place.
