The famous 'Battle of the Tennis Court' was fought between 04th April to 22nd June 1944 between a small Commonwealth army and the Japanese forces who were looking to advance into India.
The war took place in Kohima in the Garden of the Deputy Commissioner's bungalow and I was there near the tennis court where the fiercest attack took place and our Officer Commanding, Tom Kenyon thwarted the Japanese bid to enter the area.
The complete place was in shambles within no time but we kept up the pressure so that the Japanese troops could not enter the place.
