A DARING BANK DACOITY

COOCH BEHAR, July 24 : A Daring Bank robbery was committed in the Cooch Behar Bazaar Branch of United Bank of India on 23rd July at 2 p.m. just before the public transaction was being closed. According to the Manager of the bank four armed men raided the bank by snatching the rifle from the guard on duty at the gate. They broke open the lockers and took away jewelleries and cash worth about forty lakhs. The customers and the staff at the counter was silenced at a gun point. The miscreants threw bomb while escaping in a white maruti van waiting at the other side of the road opposite the bank. The police were immediately informed of the incident but no arrest could be made till the report reached the press.
