Answer:

I've lived 4.5 of the last 6 years in Arctic Norway, Tromsø, 69 degrees north of the arctic line, and it's generally a lot of fun!

In summer, there is the midnight sun, which is an absolutely wonderful phenomenon and fills you with energy. In the winter, we have the opposite polar night, so there is no sun for about two months. As I write today, I haven't seen the sun in over two weeks.

At least where I live, there are northern lights in the winter, which make everything better and make even the complete absence of sun somewhat acceptable.

Otherwise I live in a city (72,000) so life is not much different from other European/Western areas. Most people work in the service sector, we have music festivals, cinemas, sporting events, what else...

I would say that in general, mainly because of the light conditions that change every time, people tend to be a little more in tune with nature up here, because the lifestyle changes somewhat between summer and winter. In the summer, when the sun is up all night, we can take almost anything much easier, while in the winter it's more common to be a little more focused and spend more time indoors and/or with people waiting for the sun to come. back. Sports and other outdoor activities also change drastically between summer and winter, as you can imagine.
