I live in the north of Sweden, where things are pretty much as you describe.
What happens is that summers tend to be absolutely epic, and you get to the point where you are getting bored of sunshine and blue skies and begin to hide in the basement, watching David Lynch films.
And winters are a time of extreme fixation on the indoors. You don’t mind it, because it’s impossible outside, and lovely inside; you simply enjoy more time to yourself, spend more time with people.
I enjoy this extreme bipolarity, which also comes with amazing colours and seasonal variations in music, decorations, activities, and atmosphere.
