as we know mrs Joe Thompson was a very wry and hard hearted woman which is partially because of lack of someone to take care and love for.

so being someone hard hearted we can say that a normal person would like just throw that girl (magie) out ( if mr Thompson wouldn't have given that emotional dramatic lecture) . But being myself I would had hung n my husband ( I am a male) neck and plead to send her off (though not being personally meself)
