If I would be in the place of the old lady jn the poem baking cakes, I would have given a cake to saint in order to help him even if I won't know that he is the saint and not an ordinary hungry man. So may behavior or greed won't change if the knew the real identity of the saint earlier because I would have offered him cake and treated respectively in any identity.
